The Catamaran Chronicles

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Author Sailor Storyteller
I’ve been bareboat chartering for two decades, mostly in the BVI, USVI, St. Martin, and the Chesapeake. In the fall of 2024, while in St. Martin, I had an idea that has become The Catamaran Chronicles: What if a new pandemic — one that well and truly knocked out most of the population — took off at the start of my charter?
I didn’t want the usual post-apocalyptic urban war zone, or zombies, or crazed biker gangs. Instead, I wanted to explore what would really happen — especially if my family was on a catamaran, with other marooned boaters around. The practical aspects, the problem-solving, the real dangers. What would it actually be like? The series explores these questions through a family saga told from the vantage point of sailors, islands, and ports.
The result is adult speculative fiction – a nautical survival series grounded in real seamanship, real Caribbean geography, and the very real weight of keeping a family together when the world falls apart.

No Safe Harbor (Book 1) will be available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle — publication is coming as soon as Book 3 goes to editing (later in 2026), so that you can enjoy the first three books in the series in 2027. Join the crew to be first to know when it drops.
The seamanship is real. I has been bareboat chartering for two decades across the BVI, USVI, St. Martin, and the Chesapeake. The geography, the boat systems, the practical problem-solving — all drawn from life on the water. The pandemic is fictional. The catamaran knowledge is not.
If you’re tired of zombie hordes and urban war zones, this series is a different animal. The Catamaran Chronicles focuses on realistic survival — food, water, fuel, disease avoidance, boat systems, and the very real danger of other people — set against the Caribbean islands. It asks: what would actually happen? Not Hollywood apocalypse. Real problem-solving, real stakes, real family.
You should! The books are written to be read in order, but jumping in somewhere in the middle is possible – they’re each stand-alone to some extent.
Yes! Excerpts from a companion book I’ve written – Chartering for Newbies: A Primer for the First-Timer, a lighthearted sailing glossary – are woven right into the story. You’ll pick up what you need as you go.
Each book includes illustrated maps of the islands, anchorages, and passages featured in the story. If you’ve ever sailed the BVI or dreamed of it, you’ll recognize the geography — and if you haven’t, the maps will put you right there.
